Adding an instrument rating to your pilot certificate will increase your options as a pilot. This rating will allow you to fly in less than perfect weather conditions such as low visibility, clouds, haze, or night conditions when a clear horizon cannot be established. It will also refine your pilot skills and make you a better safer pilot.
To qualify for and instrument rating you must at minimum hold a private pilot certificate, current third class medical, have 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time logged, instrument cross-country training, and a minimum of 15 hours of flight training with a CFII.
To complete this rating a FAA written exam is required and a FAA practical test consisting of an oral exam and flight test.
Elite RC-1 Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD)
Up to 20 hour of instrument time can be logged in our Elite RC-1 AATD. The RC-1 provides an enhanced training environment making it possible to concentrate on a given task rather than flying an aircraft into position to begin the desired training exercise. Using our RC-1 is the best way to reduce the overall cost of complete your instrument rating.
